Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 jolts area near Tomioka, Japan on Aug. 29

FUTABA DISTRICT, Fukushima — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Tomioka Friday morning.

It was reported that a tremor struck the region at 16:51 UTC (01:51 local time). The epicenter was situated roughly 61 km east of Tomioka, at a depth of 44 km.
