Friday night, a 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded near Drake Passage, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The tremor, which shook the area at 03:17 UTC (23:17 local time), was centered of Drake Passage. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Past week’s quakes
Over the last week, there have been two earthquakes, greater than magnitude 7, in the region. The largest, a 8.0 magnitude tremor, was reported in the same region prior to this quake, while a smaller 7.5 magnitude quake slammed near 2025 Southern Drake Passage Earthquake on August 21.
