July 30: Earthquake measuring 5.3 strikes region near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia

On Wednesday around midday, a 5.3 magnitude quake was reported close to Severo-Kuril’sk, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 02:05 UTC (12:05 local time), the area was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 23 km, with its epicenter roughly 130 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk.
