According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Tobelo Friday night.

The tremor jolted the area at 12:22 UTC (21:22 local time). It occurred at a depth of 109 km with the epicenter located approximately 101 km west of Tobelo. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.3 but later downgraded to 5.0.
