Update: Earthquake of 5.1 magnitude registered close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on July 20

Sunday morning, a 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 23:10 UTC (10:10 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 162 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
