Update: July 31 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake detected close to Vilyuchinsk, Russia

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.2 magnitude quake shook near Vilyuchinsk Thursday morning.

At 14:29 UTC (01:29 local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 35 km, with its epicenter approximately 165 km southeast of Vilyuchinsk. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later upgraded it to 5.2.
