Update: Earthquake of 5.9 magnitude registered close to Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on July 30

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.9 magnitude quake jolted near Severo-Kuril’sk at midday on Wednesday.

The tremor, which shook the area at 02:30 UTC (12:30 local time), was centered roughly 93 km east of Severo-Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 38 km.
