The tremor rocked at 22:10 UTC (08:10 local time), with its epicenter located near Macquarie Island region and a depth of 10 km.

Tremors past week

Over the last week, there have been three tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above centered nearby, three of them larger than magnitude 6.1. The largest one was a 6.6 magnitude earthquake that was registered in the same region two days earlier.
