Update: Earthquake hits region near Nikolski, AK on June 28 – 5.2 magnitude recorded

ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK—A 5.2 magnitude quake was registered near Nikolski Saturday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor shook the area at 6:08 a.m. (7:08 p.m. local time). It occurred at a depth of 6 miles with the epicenter located about 101 miles south of Nikolski.

One more magnitude 2.5 tremor was detected in the region last week; it also rattled near Nikolski four days earlier.
