Update: 7.3 magnitude earthquake shakes near Sand Point, AK on July 16

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—A 7.3 magnitude quake was recorded near Sand Point Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor rocked at 8:37 p.m. (9:37 a.m. local time), with its epicenter located about 54 miles south of Sand Point and a depth of 12 miles.
