Earthquake of magnitude 2.7 registered close to Olancha, CA on July 13

INYO COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.7 magnitude quake was detected near Olancha Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 8:45 a.m., the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake rattled at a depth of just 1 mile, with its epicenter roughly 7 miles south-southwest of Olancha.

Olancha rattled twice last week

During the past week, there have been two tremors, greater than magnitude 2.5, centered in the area. Both measured 4.0 maginude and were recorded in the same region. One of them hit prior to this quake, and the other on July 13.
