Update: Earthquake measuring 2.1 shakes area close to Lake Pillsbury, CA on July 13

MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.1 magnitude quake was reported close to Lake Pillsbury Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the region at 7:44 a.m., was centered about 10 miles northwest of Lake Pillsbury. It occurred at a depth of just 2 miles.

Pair of equally strong tremors recorded in last week

Two tremors, above magnitude 2.5, each with a magnitude of 2.9, have been registered in the region over the past week. The first was recorded near Cobb two days ago, and the second was felt close to Lake Pillsbury on July 6.
