MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — Friday night, a preliminary 2.3 magnitude quake was registered near Parkfield, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 10:05 p.m. The epicenter was located roughly 13 miles north-northwest of Parkfield, at a depth of just 4 miles.

Two quakes near Parkfield last week
In the past week, there have been two tremors above magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake, rattled one day ago, while the other, measuring 2.9, occurred on July 8.
