Update: Earthquake hits region close to Nabire, Indonesia on Sept. 18 – 6.1 magnitude registered

NABIRE REGENCY, Central Papua — Thursday morning, a 6.1 magnitude quake was reported near Nabire, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 18:19 UTC (03:19 local time), was centered about 26 km south of Nabire. It occurred at a depth of 28 km.
