SUSQUES DEPARTMENT, Jujuy Province — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred near San Antonio de los Cobres on Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 19:38 UTC (16:38 local time), a tremor struck the region at a depth of 191 km, with its epicenter about 44 km northwest of San Antonio de los Cobres. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.4 event, but later downgraded it to 5.3.
