LOS ANDES DEPARTMENT, Salta Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.3 magnitude quake hit near San Antonio de los Cobres Thursday morning.

The tremor jolted the area at 04:26 UTC (01:26 local time). It occurred at a depth of 181 km with the epicenter located roughly 48 km west of San Antonio de los Cobres.
