NIUATOPUTAPU, Niuas — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Hihifo on Sunday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which shook the area at 16:41 UTC (04:41 local time), was centered approximately 112 km south-southeast of Hihifo. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
