Update: Earthquake measuring 5.3 jolts area near Hengchun, Taiwan on Feb. 11

HENGCHUN TOWNSHIP, Pingtung County — A 5.3 magnitude quake was reported near Hengchun Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the region at 22:27 UTC (06:27 local time), was centered roughly 186 km south-southwest of Hengchun. It occurred at a depth of 7 km.
