Update: Earthquake shakes region near Ozernovskiy, Russia on July 30 – 5.2 magnitude recorded

Wednesday morning, a 5.2 magnitude quake was detected close to Ozernovskiy, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor jolted the area at 18:05 UTC (05:05 local time). The epicenter was located about 148 km east-southeast of Ozernovskiy, at a depth of 35 km.

Over the last week, there have been 35 quakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater centered nearby, three of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The largest, measuring 5.7, hit close to Severo-Kuril’sk prior to this quake.
