Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 hits area close to Gorontalo, Indonesia on July 31

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Gorontalo Thursday morning.

The tremor, which shook the region at 22:13 UTC (06:13 local time), was centered approximately 74 km south of Gorontalo. It occurred at a depth of 125 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.

Last week, one more magnitude 4.4 earthquake was centered in the area. The event was also registered near Gorontalo, three days ago.
