Update: Seismic activity on Jan. 16 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake near Amahai, Indonesia detected

WEST SERAM REGENCY, Maluku — A 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded near Amahai Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 23:50 UTC (08:50 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 66 km, with its epicenter roughly 28 km west of Amahai.
