Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude detected close to East Pacific Rise on Jan. 2

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake jolted near East Pacific Rise Friday night.

A tremor shook the area at 07:52 UTC (23:52 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated south of East Pacific Rise and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
