A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Nemuro on Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 09:07 UTC (18:07 local time), with its epicenter approximately 31 km south of Nemuro and a depth of 97 km.
