Update: Seismic activity on Sept. 20 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia reported

A 5.1 magnitude quake was detected close to Severo-Kuril’sk around midday Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the area at 01:28 UTC (11:28 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 264 km south of Severo-Kuril’sk and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.0 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
