Western Michigan wins in overtime thriller and move on

Western Michigan has won against the Denver Pioneers 3-2 in a game that went to overtime, in the playoff knock-out game on Thursday, April 09, 2025, and will advance.

WMU’s Owen Michaels scored the game-winning goal.

The first period was scoreless, and early in the second period, the Broncos took the lead when Brian Kramer scored assisted by Tim Washe.

Late, Owen Michaels scored a goal, making the score 2-0.

Aidan Thompson narrowed the gap to 2-1 with a goal early in the third period, assisted by Cale Ashcroft and Garrett Brown.

Jared Wright also tied it up 2-2 with a goal late in the third assisted by Eric Pohlkamp. The game went to overtime.

In overtime, it took 20:26 before Owen Michaels scored the game-winner for the team, assisted by Matteo Costantini and Joona Väisänen.
