A fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 2:57 a.m. valid for Sunday between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. The watch is for Guadalupe Mountains Above 7000 Feet, Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, Van Horn and Highway 54 Corridor, Eastern Culberson County, Davis Mountains and Davis Mountains Foothills.
“Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that may generate sparks. Extinguish smoking material in vehicles. Accidental ignitions will have the potential to grow into dangerous wind-driven wildfires,” states the NWS.
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
