The National Weather Service issued an updated weather alert at 2:48 a.m. on Sunday for freezing rain and drizzle until 6 a.m. The alert is for Western Schenectady, Eastern Schenectady, Southern Saratoga, Western Albany, Eastern Albany, Western Rensselaer and Eastern Rensselaer as well as Montgomery and Schoharie counties.
“Temperatures remain around freezing across portions of the Capital District, Mohawk Valley, Schoharie Valley and Helderbergs. Some intermittent light freezing rain or drizzle may cause light ice accumulations on colder untreated surfaces. Some slick spots may be encountered on some roads or sidewalks. Temperatures will start to rise back above freezing by daybreak Sunday, as a warm front begins to move back northward across the region, changing precipitation to plain rain or drizzle,” according to the NWS.
