A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Sunday at 3:38 a.m. for elevated fire danger until 7 p.m. for.
“The combination of northwesterly winds gusting 20-30 mph, minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 30%, and drying fine fuels will lead to an elevated risk of fire spread today. The risk will be highest across the Capital Region, Mid-Hudson Valley, Taconics, and eastern Catskills from late this morning through early this evening. Any fires that develop in these areas could spread rapidly. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. As a reminder, the annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued,” states the NWS.
