On Thursday at 6:55 p.m. the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 7:30 p.m. for Boulder/Jefferson counties below 6,000 feet/West Broomfield County, North Douglas County below 6,000 feet/Denver/West Adams and Arapahoe counties/East Broomfield County and Elbert/central and east Douglas counties above 6,000 feet.

Residents can anticipate wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 6:55 p.m., Doppler radar tracked two boundaries extending from over Ponderosa Park to 4 miles southwest of Federal Heights, or extending from 27 miles southeast of Denver to 8 miles northwest of Denver,” states the NWS. “Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Denver, Aurora, southern Thornton, Arvada, Westminster, eastern Centennial, southwestern Broomfield, southwestern Commerce City, northeastern Parker, Northglenn, eastern Wheat Ridge, Greenwood Village, Federal Heights, southwestern Denver International Airport, Elizabeth, Arapahoe Park, Buckley SFB and The Pinery.

The NWS states, “Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions.”
