QALANSIYAH WA ABD AL KURI, Socotra — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Kilmia on Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 11:20 UTC (14:20 local time), a tremor rattled the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 141 km north-northwest of Kilmia. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
