Update: Seismic activity on June 27 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake close to Port Blair, India recorded

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Port Blair Friday evening.

The tremor, which hit the area at 14:58 UTC (20:58 local time), was centered roughly 265 km south-southeast of Port Blair. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

Last week, the region has experienced 13 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or greater. The biggest, a 5.4 magnitude quake, shook the same region two days earlier.
