Update: Seismic activity on July 31 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake close to Machalí, Chile detected

CACHAPOAL, O’Higgins — Thursday afternoon, a 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded near Machalí, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 21:34 UTC (17:34 local time). The epicenter was situated about 27 km northeast of Machalí, at a depth of 7 km.
