Update: Seismic activity on July 17 – 5.6 magnitude earthquake near Sand Point, AK reported

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.6 magnitude quake struck close to Sand Point Thursday afternoon.

The tremor jolted the area at 4:30 a.m. (5:30 p.m. local time). It occurred at a depth of 22 miles with the epicenter situated about 58 miles south-southeast of Sand Point.
