Update: Seismic activity on July 16 – 7.3 magnitude earthquake close to Sand Point, AK reported

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—Wednesday morning, a 7.3 magnitude quake was detected near Sand Point, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 8:37 p.m. (9:37 a.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated roughly 54 miles south of Sand Point and occurred at a depth of 12 miles.
