Update: Seismic activity on July 10 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake near Macquarie Island reported

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Macquarie Island on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 18:26 UTC (03:26 local time), a tremor struck the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter west of Macquarie Island. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.8 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
