NORTH HALMAHERA REGENCY, North Maluku — on Friday around midnight, a 5.1 magnitude quake was reported close to Tobelo, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 15:09 UTC (00:09 local time). The epicenter was located roughly 275 km north of Tobelo, at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.9 but later upgraded to 5.1.

Equally strong quakes this week
Two tremors, exceeding magnitude 2.5, each with a magnitude of 4.4, have been recorded in the area over the past week. The first was registered in the same area prior to this quake, and the second hit near Sarangani on February 9.
