Update: Seismic activity on April 20 – 5.4 magnitude earthquake near Miyako, Japan detected

A 5.4 magnitude quake hit close to Miyako on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 08:32 UTC (18:32 local time), was centered roughly 111 km east of Miyako. It occurred at a depth of 30 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.6 event, but later downgraded it to 5.4.
