IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.1 magnitude quake occurred near Calipatria Friday morning.
The tremor shook at 2:59 a.m., with its epicenter located about 7 miles west-northwest of Calipatria and a depth of just 2 miles.

Over the last week, the area has experienced five tremors of magnitude 2.5 or greater. The biggest, a 4.3 magnitude quake, hit the same region prior to this quake.
