MARE, Loyalty Islands Province — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake jolted close to Tadine around midnight Tuesday.
The tremor hit at 13:42 UTC (00:42 local time), with its epicenter located about 261 km east-southeast of Tadine and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.8 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
