Update: Feb. 4 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake registered close to Cortes, Philippines

Wednesday afternoon, a 5.0 magnitude quake was detected close to Cortes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the area at 07:11 UTC (15:11 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 35 km east of Cortes and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
