A 5.0 magnitude quake was reported near Lakatoro Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 03:12 UTC (14:12 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 187 km, with its epicenter roughly 50 km east of Lakatoro.
