Update: Earthquake shakes region near the Fiji Islands on May 10 – 5.1 magnitude recorded

NAITASIRI, Central Division — A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near the Fiji Islands at midday on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported a tremor in the area at 23:15 UTC (11:15 local time). The epicenter was south of the Fiji Islands, at a depth of 562 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
