Update: Earthquake shakes region near San José, Spain on July 14 – 5.2 magnitude recorded

ALMERÍA, AN — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.2 magnitude quake jolted near San José Monday morning.

A tremor hit the area at 05:13 UTC (07:13 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated approximately 21 km southeast of San José and occurred at a depth of 10 km.

The agency has so far received 91 reports via its online form from people who indicate they experienced the tremor. According to the USGS DYFI report, moderate shaking was registered and people in cities such as San Miguel de Salinas, El Ejido, Vera, Cuevas del Almanzora and Mojácar reported experiencing the earthquake.
