Update: Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude recorded southeast of Easter Island on Aug. 8

EASTER ISLAND, Valparaíso — A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred southeast of Easter Island on Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 13:49 UTC (07:49 local time). The epicenter was southeast of Easter Island of southeast of Easter Island, at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.6 but later upgraded to 5.2.
