A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Hirara on Tuesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 00:11 UTC (08:11 local time), was centered roughly 67 km northwest of Hirara. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.9 but later upgraded to 5.0.
