ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.7 magnitude quake occurred near Sand Point Thursday afternoon.

At 4:30 a.m. (5:30 p.m. local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 22 miles, with its epicenter about 58 miles south-southeast of Sand Point.
