Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 jolts area near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on July 26

Saturday morning, a 5.0 magnitude quake was reported close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the region at 18:54 UTC (05:54 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 165 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.9 but later upgraded to 5.0.
