SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.4 magnitude quake was recorded close to Borrego Springs Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 10:49 a.m. The epicenter was located about 3 miles west of Borrego Springs, at a depth of just 3 miles.

Seven tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or higher have been detected in the region over the last week. The most significant was a 4.3 magnitude earthquake reported close to Calipatria prior to this quake.
