Update: Aug. 22 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake recorded near Yujing, Taiwan

DANEI DISTRICT, Tainan City — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake jolted close to Yujing Friday afternoon.

The tremor shook at 06:06 UTC (14:06 local time), with its epicenter situated approximately 6 km west of Yujing and a depth of 10 km.

Those who noticed the earthquake are encouraged to report it via the USGS Felt Report form. So far, the agency has collected 11 online responses from individuals saying that they experienced the quake. Weak shaking was registered, with reports from Taichung, Kaohsiung and Tainan among the cities where people felt the tremor, according to the USGS DYFI report.
