According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Macquarie Island region Tuesday morning.
A tremor jolted the area at 00:44 UTC (10:44 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated of Macquarie Island region and occurred at a depth of 34 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.0 but later upgraded to 5.1.
